Polk Audio Monitor Series New Monitor 65T Three-Way Ported Floorstanding Loudspeaker (Black) Single
The name 'Monitor' adorned the speakers that first made Polk famous. Monitor means simple, sturdy construction, clear, accurate sound, powerful bass and superior imaging (all at a surprising price). This new Monitor is classic Polk: a quality-built, affordable line of high performance loudspeakers for music and home theater. They are highly efficient, so they can be driven easily by unpretentious receivers, and they are voice-matched for lifelike surround sound environments. The Monitor Series boasts a stylish look that complements today's flat screen technology, with wood grain finishes and modern Titanium faces. Built for sound quality and value, the Monitor Series is a great introduction to high performance sound.
The New Standard for Classic Performance
The Monitor 65T is a great compromise between size and performance (performance always comes out on top). With a high efficiency enclosure design, the 65T reveals the classic Polk sound (open, spacious and clear) even when driven by modestly-powered amplifiers and receivers. For stereo music, or big home theater front-stage thrills.
Monitor 65T Features:
- One-inch (25mm) silk/polymer composite Dynamic BalanceĀ® dome tweeter with powerful neodymium magnet structure delivers clear and detailed high frequency response for realistic reproduction of vocals and instruments.
- Three 5.25-inch composite Dynamic Balance drivers are lightweight and stiff with good damping for high efficiency, excellent bass and lower distortion.
- Multiple small-diameter driver design delivers wide dispersion, better mid-range, and more detailed bass response for an open, box-less, three-dimensional sound.
- Non-resonant all-MDF enclosure construction with 3/4-inch thick baffles ensures cleaner, clearer, more lifelike sound quality. Tower models feature additional front-to-back and side-to-side internal bracing for further reduced resonance.
- Crossovers use Mylar bypass capacitors for more detailed high frequencies.
- Dual five-way binding post connectors, allowing for more secure hook-up options, as well as bi-wiring and bi-amping flexibility.
- Monitor Series speakers are 'modern living accessories' that make a stylish statement in either black or cherry wood grain finish, with titanium faces.
- Critically tuned flared port minimizes port noise (chuffing) for good low frequency extension with low distortion, resulting in natural, full-bodied sound with rich bass.
- All Polk products are made using the best materials and the most advanced manufacturing techniques. They pass the industry's most exhaustive quality tests, including drop testing, extreme signal response and UV & salt exposure testing. Polk loudspeakers are built to perform for a lifetime.

Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: I never write reviews but for the price I have to say how pleased I am with these speakers. Great sound, If you stumble upon these speakers, you will be amazed. For the price there is nothing that can compare. I want to state here when I first connected them I was disappointed, they were very harsh. If you buy these speakers please give them at least a hundred hours to break in. I've had them for several months now and they keep getting better. I just can't say how good they sound for the price I paid, there is nothing under $500 that is better.
Cons: They really need to be broken in good, for me they started sounding better after about 70 to 80 hours. They won't be at their best until at least 100 to 150 hours.
Other Thoughts: Just Don't give up on them until you have had them a while.
Ownership: more than 1 year
Pros: warm sound, crisp highs, price.Doesnt need a lot of power to drive, though you will want to give at least 150 w to fully open it potential. As a lot of people here stated got it after long research(kept coming back, lol)
Cons: Style-classic lines might not be for everybody-NOT the egg taker
Other Thoughts: Using it for fronts L/F in home theater set up.75% movies,25% music. For low bass complaints subwoofer with crossover set at 50-60.. in the receiver is an answer.Overall very good quality speakers with great sound.
Ownership: 1 week to 1 month
Pros: Excellent imaging crisp and accurate highs with precise low frequency reproduction. The great thing with polk is the price, the quality and the low power needed for such great sound. I first purchased my first polks about 20 years ago. I was puting together a surround system. I,m a sound engineer tec and installer and did some home installations for high end customers and of coarse high end equipment. Bose just came out with there Bose system. I compared the three top speakers at the time and Polk had more output and clean and clear and crisp. Plus in the field they last. And with a 5 year warrenty They even replace the grills that got broken when moving. And replaced a speaker cabinet that broke after 8 years and past the warrenty. Polk works best as a system:meanig buy all polk speakers when putting together a system. You will not be disapointed.
Cons: none.
Other Thoughts: If your not use to buying speakers monitor speaker that have a series (system) Center Sub-woofer front surrounds. Then you get great sound. each speaker with Polk are so perfectly designed to do a certain job at a certain range that's it.
Ownership: 1 day to 1 week
Pros: I decided to get these in replace of my Samsung Home Theater of 200 watt max.
Sounds super crystal clear and crisp with some minor adjustments on my receiver of course.
Also came undamaged and in great condition.

Cons: The bass is not good at all keep that in mind. but that is expected. I plan on getting a huge subwoofer for this build soon as I can.

Dollar for dollar best speakers I could find for the money!4/23/2014 12:24:05 AM
Pros: Great SOUND: I love the combination of warm, clear yet not harsh sound that comes from these speakers. (I hear this is the Polk sound)
Great PRICE: I got these on sale here at the Egg for $149.99+tax and $3.99 shipping. Total for 2 + $326.47 shipped. You'd be hard pressed to find something comparible in sound quality for a comparable price.
Great STYLE: Style is very personal. To me I love the look of these speakers. I feel they match well with the modern day flat panel HDTVs. Having the port in the front makes it easier to place them as you don't have to worry about sound quality if they are closer to a wall. Some don't like the grill and newer logo but I think it all looks really cool.
SIZE and SHAPE: Although these can be tall for some they are also pretty slim so it will fit in most living/bed room spaces.
EASY SETUP: I got them out of their boxes, set up and in use in minutes.
QUALITY BUILT: Everything still working and sounding great. No issues there.
PACKAGING: Polk does a great job packaging their speakers. Huge box with Styrofoam on the top bottom and middle of each speaker. One box had a decent sized hole it but my speakers survived without a scratch on it. (I don't care if a box gets damaged as long as the goods are unharmed)
DELIVERY SPEED: Paid the extra $3 to NewEgg for the 3 day shipping. Got my speakers on the 3rd day! Love how quickly they arrived.
Polk WARRANTY: 5-Year Limited Warranty on Home Audio Speakers. Gives me more peace of mind that I am covered if there is an issue. Also longer warranty has me thinking that they have quality products that aren't always breaking down.
CUSTOMER SERVICE: I have read more customers say Polk has a good customer service reputation than not.

Cons: None so far. :)
BUT I do want to say MAKE SURE your metal BINDING POSTs are IN THEIR PROPER PLACE and are tightened. 2 nights ago I had replaced my bare wire with banana plugs and noticed that my right channel was not sending sound through the tweeter. I couldn't figure out why and started to think my tweeter was blown. I emailed polk about the problem and started the process to get it replaced when I decided to go online and look up how to replace Polk tweeter. I ran across a Polk tech giving advice on one of the Polk forums. He said that it is common for customers to think their tweeter is not working or that one of the woofers are defective when the real problem is simply making sure the BINDING POST is IN PLACE. So I go to the back of my Right channel speaker and that was exactly my problem. The binding post slipped out of place and was no longer connected. Once I fixed that my tweeter was working again. I canceled my replacement tweeter order. SO happy I didn't have to replace any parts and can enjoy my sound as expected.
Although (not that there is any problem with these but,) I do wish I caught the 75Ts on sale. I think they would have an even bigger sound with the 4 x 6.5 woofers. But I am pretty content for now with my 65Ts. Probably will upgrade to 75Ts in the future and move these to the back as rear surrounds for a 7 channel setup. :)

Other Thoughts: I bought two of these 65Ts in 10/2013 after weeks (because I HATE regret) of researching online and listening to comparable speakers in the price range. I narrowed it down to Polk/Klipsch/and the second version of the budget Andrew Jones Pioneer speakers. Although I heard good things about each of the three (especially the rave reviews AJ Pios got) after listening to them in person, I felt the Polks were the best of the bunch. From day one to now I Couldn't be happier with the sound I'm getting especially for what I paid. (I am not an audiophile, nor do I play one on TV but,) I like to think I know good sound when I hear it and, IMHO The 65T offers very good sound, for both movies (which is what I primarily use it for) and music alike. I have come to realize that I really like warm sounding music and Polk has a unique sound that is both warm as well as very clear on the vocals and effects without sounding harsh to your ears. Loved these speakers so much that I purchased a CS2 from the Egg on sale for $119.99 to have matching LCR channels in the front.
The 65T is probably the best in it's class. In terms of price you could definitely do worse than these speakers but you would be hard pressed to find better. Especially if you catch these on sale like I did. NewEgg Polk store tends to have sales on their stuff often enough that if you are patient, you could get a lot for a little. ;)
I totally recommend these speakers to anyone starting out in home theater. Great way to hit the ground running.

Pros: I always wanted to have these speakers. I have an Onkyo home theater 5.1. The sound was good but I wanted more details specially when listening to jazz, guitar solos or acoustic music. I replace the front right and left. These speakers deliver what I want. It fills the room beautifully. Sadly, I live in a coop building my neighbor downstairs is a cranky old man who stays at home all day I can't listen to these speakers at its full potential. I'm satisfied. A pretty good deal when they are on sale $129 each plus 10% off using Vme card and free shipping. Thanks newegg.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: When I received these Speakers the Superintendent of the building looked at me in a skeptical way. These boxes are huge and a little bit heavy. At least I know they are well package. Thankfully the are not so big when I open it. The internal speakers dimensions are 37' H x 7' W x 12 1/16' D. The Weight (each): 31 lbs.
Ownership: more than 1 year
Bad Tweeter--But Great Customer Service4/4/2014 3:57:06 PM
Pros: Great Bank for the Buck..Great sound..I bought these after having a pair of TSI-300's as an upgrade..I'm pushing them with an Onkyo TX-SR707 (100 watts per channel)..they sound incredible, but you really should have a powered sub woofer..Not a lot of meat on the bottom end, but I expected that. Very clean..I think my next Polk's I'll spend the money and go with the Rti's--Been very happy with these
Cons: Bad Tweeter or Cross-over..The tweeter on one speaker as gone out twice in three months..Not a problem for the first year I owned these...I don't even crank this thing..Polk Customer service as been exceptional dealing with this..without question, Tweeters have been mailed out for replacement..My Tech Rep and myself are trying to figure out the issue..They are prompt and professional in their responses and don't leave you hanging with issues..That alone speaks volumes nowadays (no pun intended!!)
Other Thoughts: I'll continue buying polk speakers--although, I think i'm gonna drop some real money on my next round..maybe in a year or so...I'd give these a 5 egg rating if it wasn't for the tweeter issue.
Ownership: less than 1 day
Pros: Great Price!
Easy Setup!
Cherry color is awesome!

Cons: Can't think of one!
Other Thoughts: Anyone looking for new speakers should seriously give the 65T's a listen... for the sale price how could you go wrong?
